As a registered 501(c)(3), some of your out-of-pocket volunteer expenses may be tax deductible.
This guide explains what you can deduct, what you cannot, and how to request documentation if needed.
✅ What You CAN Deduct as a Volunteer
1. Mileage for Volunteer Work
You may deduct mileage driven specifically to volunteer for Epic Motion at the IRS charitable rate:

Keep a simple log of date, purpose, and miles.
2. Supplies and Items Purchased for the Nonprofit
If you buy something only for Epic Motion, it may be deductible.
Examples:
Must be out-of-pocket and not reimbursed.
3. Costumes / Uniforms — Only If ALL Are True:
Everyday clothing (heels, leggings, typical dance attire) is not deductible.
4. Travel Expenses (Special Cases Only)
If you travel solely and exclusively to volunteer for Epic Motion:
